Does the veterans affairs hospital cover cosmetic surgery?

February 282010

I am a Marine Corps and Operation Iraqi Freedom Veteran. I was injured in OIF and was received a %70 disability rating. I still have a scar and was wondering if the veterans affairs will do a cosmetic surgery seeing as how it was from injuries sustained during a combat operation. Though I appreciate all answers please only answer if you have a certain answer and no "I guesses" or "I think", thanks!

this is tomjohn’s wife:
I work at a VA also and yes we do do cosmetic surgery. It depends on the type, reason for the surgery and need. All VAs have different programs, therefore they perform different services. Working at a training hospital, we do many surgeries that are classified as elective and cosmetic. The best advise I can give you is to contact your service representative and have him put you in contact with a social worker at the closest VA to you. They then can find out if any of the VAs would consider doing the surgery you are requesting. You can also call the benefits office at 1-800 827 1000(in Michigan) for the telephone number of your service representative. If you are in another state, just contact your local VA hospital for the telephone numbers.

Answer these questions about community service at a hospital plzzzz?

February 282010

1- IS IT FUN AND WORTHWHILE?
2- DO YOU HAVE TO BE INTERESTED IN BEING A DOCTOR OR SOMETHING TO VOLUNTEER AT THE HOSPITAL?
3- IS A 100 HOURS GOOD ENOUGH TO WORK AT THE HOSPITAL?
4- WHEN SHOULD I START IM IN 9TH GRADE AND CONSIDER CALLING THIS WEEK?
5- DOES THE LIBRARY OFFER GOOD HOURS?
6-

Yes,,,,NO,,,,Yes,,,,In my area they would have programs for you during the summer, each hospital is different, you will just have to call or stop by and talk with the volunteer coodinator,,,,Not sure about the Library,, at the hospital where I volunteer people donate magazines and papers and books and volunteers go around and pass them out, its a great job because you get to meet and talk to alot of people and you help them forget about the conditions for awhile,, its truly a blessing!!

How long were you in the hospital after an induction?

February 282010

On Monday night, I’m going to be given cervidil to ’soften’ my cervix, and on Tuesday morning I’ll be given pitocin to induce labor due to gestational diabetes.

How long can I expect to be in the hospital, generally speaking? For experienced moms / nurses / physicians, how long can I expect to be there after I’ve given birth? Can you give me any tips or things I should ask during this time?

Thanks ahead of time!

I was induced on Dec 3rd and came home Dec 4th. But it was also my second child. My doctor told me I could go home a day early since we both were doing really good. I didn’t have any pain meds. and delivered my son in 6 hours. I was put on pitocin at 0710 am and my son was born at 2:22 pm the same day. My cervix was already soft and I was 2 cm. With my first son I stayed in the hospital for 2 days.

Usually it is 2 days after a vaginal birth and 3 days after a c-section. But it can vary depending on how you and the baby are doing.

I would just ask them what they are doing when they do it and ask how everything is progressing. Good Luck and congrats on the baby.

have yougae birth in a hospital birthing center?

February 282010

i need advice on natural birth, how to handle the pain without meds, and what i’ll need to take.if you’ve given birth naturally, how hard was it really?how did you cope with the pain?

I gave birth in a birthing center, but it was not a hospital birthing center. I had four natural births. I used the Bradley method with all of them. It works great for me. The key to it working is practicing a lot in advance, so you can relax completely during contractions. The pain was moderate; I’ve had lots of things that hurt worse. The Bradley method uses total relaxation to prevent uterine cramps. Prevent the cramping and you prevent the worst of the pain. Then the main pain you feel is the cervix stretching.

GENERAL Hospital???

February 282010

I was wondering if anyone knew what Nadines sister did that was so bad.???

She was killing people in the hospital. I think you would have had to watch GH Night Shift on Soap net to have actually seen what was going on. I don’t have that channel but I watched a few episodes online at abc.com. I really didn’t care for GH Night Shift, some of the roles of the characters really conflicted with the roles they were doing during daytime GH. You really didn’t miss anything good.

Jolene Crowell is a fictional character on the SOAPnet drama series, General Hospital: Night Shift. Jolene is a student nurse, the character has also made several appearances on General Hospital. She is portrayed by actress Amanda Baker.

Recently, it was revealed that she is a mercenary working for an HMO called Medcam, which seeks to acquire the General Hospital, and she is responsible for a string of deaths and accidents in the hospital including puncturing a can of laughing gas on an ambulance which caused an explosion and sabotaging and elevator with a pregnant woman inside. She also unsuccessfully tried to kill 2 employees, one being a doctor with an overdose of sleeping gas and a janitor by trying to overdose him on medication as well.

Jolene was seriously injured and lapsed into a coma when she jumped in front of a bullet during a gang fight at General hospital while trying to save Spinelli who was in love with her. She had taken his virginity a few weeks prior to the incident.

General Hospital: Night Shift was a prime time soap opera that aired on SOAPnet for a limited 13 episode run. It began its run on July 12, 2007. Night Shift marks the second American spinoff series for General Hospital, the first being the 30 minute daytime soap opera, Port Charles. The series aired at 11 p.m. on Thursday. [1] The last airdate for the show was October 4, 2007. ABC Daytime and SOAP Net President Brian Frons announced during a December 2007 interview with TV Guide’s Michael Logan that there will be a second season of Night Shift. However, "Frons says he won’t repeat the mistakes of Season 1, when plots didn’t sync up with those on the mother ship. (Maxie, dying on one show, was a very busy slut on the other.) Frons admits the spin-off ‘put a big strain on the GH team.’ He’ll bring in a new set of writers and producers to handle season 2."

In November 2007, it was announced that Night Shift’s entire first season will be released on DVD on February 12, 2008.

If nurses become doctors, will the hospital they work at pay for medical school?

February 282010

I heard that nurses who go to medical school go for free because the hospital where they work at pays for their education. Is this true? If it is, how many years do they have to work at the hospital before they can qualify to go back to school for free?

Never heard of that before.

The education for physicians is very different from the education for nurses, so this would basically require the nurse to start college all over again and spend 7 or 8 years going through college and med school, plus more years for residencies, etc. Sounds like it would be a tough job for the nurse and a bad deal for the hospital.

Unless someone can name a specific hospital where you can do this, I think it is just a fairy tale.

Questions to anyone who has been in a psychiatric hospital or knows alot about them?

February 282010

I need to find out a few bits and bobs for my novel:

1. In a typical psychiatric hospital are males and females mixed? to what extent?

2. In what way do they eat? (I.e is there a cantine/cafeteria or do they just get what they’re given?)

3. What typically occurs on a normal day?

Any help much appreciated

1. Yes, the vast majority of hospitals are co-ed

2. Some people eat on the unit. In this case, menus are distributed and patients circle which items they would like to have on their delivered trays. Most eat in the cafeteria. Unless they are on a specific eating disorder protocol, patients choose what they want to eat.

3. A typical day would probably include something similar to the following:

Wake up/hygiene
Breakfast
Morning group
Personal time
Psychoeducational group
Lunch
Free time
Psychotherapy group
Art/movement group
Individual therapy
Dinner
Community/evening group
Lights-Out

how to contact a tata memorial hospital, mumbai(india) doctor for advice on cancer treatment through internet ?

February 282010

my mother is suffering from cancer and the doctors from S.G.P.G.I. have advised chemotherapy but we wanted to consult the doctors from tata hospital mumbai. is this possible by sending the scanned reports .if yes then please tell me the whole procedure.

I think you have refered the advices given by Sanjay Gandhi Medical Sciences hospital. Lucknow.I think you can take a overnight journey to Mumbai along with the reports and see the concerned doctor at Tata Memorial Hospital and decide.

It may be difficult to get the correct doctor on internet and you can try to talk to the hospital receiption and find the name of the best Medical Oncologist and proceed. Their phone Numbers are – +91-22- 24177000, 24146750 – 55 and Fax: +91-22-24146937.

You have not given any details regarding the type and stage of cancer suffered by the patient and in my opinion doctors are available in all places and especially in Lucknow also, as the chemotheraphy is given by them only and does not require any speical consultation. -

What are some songs about bulimia or children’s hospitals?

I am doing a book report and there is a character who is bulimic in the book.
For a "creative" part of the assignment, I am making a soundtrack.
Does anyone know any songs about bulimia or children’s hospitals?

"Fatso" by The Story. The quintessential eating disorder song. I heard it for the first time when I was (where else) in a treatment program for eating disorders. It’s on Itunes.
