If you notice a lump under your skin should you go to the doctors or the hospital?
I’ve got a lump under my skin, just below my ear, sort of on the jaw bone. I want to go and get it checked out. Am i better of going to the doctors tomorrow or will they just refer me to the hospital…or do i go straight to the hospital?
Cheers.
Its not the gland just a small almost cyst like lump that hurts to touch. But i’ll go to the doctors tomorrow then just incase, better safe then sorry. Thanks for the info.
You would start with your personal physician who will be able to refer you to all the testing or diagnostics or specialists you may need . . it may well be nothing at all and that is why you start with your own doctor.
You posted this in the cancer section . . just so you know . . early stages of cancer are painless . . so the fact that the lump hurts indicates its probably an infection of some kind and not a malignancy. If the pain increases or you have a temperature of 102 you should go to the Emergency Room for an evaluation.
Do it now before Obamacare kicks in.

If you have some doubts about the doctor just go to the hospital and cut out the middle-man.

its probably just a small deposit of fat but you might want to go to the doctor just in case

go to the doctors at first to check it out because if it’s not serious im sure he can explain to you what it is and give you medication. if it is serious he will tell you to go to the hospital himself. it’s better that way rather than having to wait hours in the emergency room for nothing.

I would call your doctor first. It may be nothing after all. I could be aa swollen gland from where you are describing it, which means your body is fighting an infection. Call your doctor and make an appointment to get it checked out.

i think you should see a doctor asap, it might not be an emergency but the earlier it get diagnosed the easier it can be treated

If you are concerned, you should go to your doctor. They will advise you if you have anything to worry about.
Should it be the case that it is something serious, your doctor will refer you or set up an appointment for you to see a specialist.
It’s better to just go see your doctor, than to sit in a waiting room and fill out all sorts of paper work for something that may not be serious.
Hope this helps.

Sounds like a swollen lymph node, generally a sign that you have some sort of illness or infection that your body is trying to fight.
Se your Dr, it is unlikely to be anything terribly serious.
