Does Michelle Obama make more money than physicians at her hospital?
How can she make $375K when there are physicians *owing* $125K for medical school, working 80-hours a week *taking care of sick dying patients* and only making $40K a year. Conflict of interest–She got that position immediately after her husband earmarked federal funds for the hospital.
And I said *physicians,* NOT administrators.
Administrators and lawyers like her are part of the national healthcare *cost* problem — bureacratic dead weight, why patients can’t afford health care.
Actually, they *do* have the degrees.
They have either BA/BS then an MD/DO, and then medical licensing which is a *heckuva* lot harder to get through than grad school.
The have the degrees, they work harder than she does, and they actually are the ones *taking care* of the patients.
I work at a University hospital and I can tell you that it is not uncommon. I know several top level administrators with half the experience of doctors, MBAs at best, and they make $600K to a million dollars a year over the doc’s average of $250k a year.
Edit: I know you said physician’s, but you are comparing the salary of Michelle Obama (an administrator) to physicians. Hence my use of the word. Get it?
Because she’s a Vice-President. Just like at the University I work at our AVPs make many times more than what an administrator like myself makes.

Ahh, sweetie, she isn’t an MD. She’s a VP. Her expertise is business, not health care.
Think of this, teachers teach everyone, Presidents’, athletes, actors, people who will make more in a day than they make in a year. It’s not fair, but no one makes anyone work in any certain faction of the workforce, it’s a choice. Don’t blame the person because their choice pays more than another.

You’re tyrying to comare apples and oranges. She’s a VP… not an MD. Very big difference. If she were working in the Texas Medical Center in one of the teaching hospitals, she’d be making much, much more than that!! She has no reason to be ashamed. She has a Harvrad Law degree… that carries much weight in the business world.
