can i admit myself into the local psychiatric hospital for suicidal thoughts?
im 16 and i feel really low and often have suicidal thoughts, i live in peterborough, is there anyway i can admit myself to the local psychiatric hospital without parental consent?
You cannot admit yourself in the UK, with or without consent. Your doctor needs to agree that you need admission and arrange it. The psychiatric system in Britain has been geared to care in the community for at least 2 decades and psychiatric patients are only admitted if their condition is considered extreme.

You might be better to go to A&E of a regular hospital, they will assess you and if you are considered to be a risk to yourself you would be admitted to a psych. ward. This is the best course of action and no, you would not need parental consent to do this, just turn up and explain to them your thoughts and desperation and you will be treated. They will contact your parents, but they cannot deny you entry to the hopsital if you are in need of treatment and attention then and there (suicidial thoughts IS a life threatening condition).
I hope you receive the help you need. And I really hope you start to feel better. It sounds as if you need some counselling and perhaps an antidepresssant medication for a while.. you WILL feel better and please do not do anything silly…. you’ll get through this.

If you’re really having thoughts of harming yourself, you need to get help. If you’re thinking about killing yourself, say, tomorrow then yes go to the hospital. But if you just think about it sometimes, the hospital is not the place for you. You need to see a doctor though and be put on some medication.
And really ask yourself, "Is this for attention from someone?" because if it is and you go to the hospital you’ll regret it. It’s not a walk in the park.

you should tell a trusted adult immediately about how you feel if you cant tell you’re parents tell an aunt or grandparent , dig deep and therele be an adult you can trust somewhere or go see you’re gp and tell him/her about this,don’t hesitate as no matter how bad you think it is someone will listen and you will get help and feel great again, promise

Shannon is absolutely correct. Present yourself to A & E and you will have a psychiatric assessment to determine if you are considered a danger to yourself or others. If they think these thoughts are not going to lead to action, you will more than likely be referred to your local CAMHS team.

you really need to present you self to a&e where they will assess you,talk to someone urgently aout how you feel, ie family member,friend, dr,samaritans

No one can admit themselves to a psychiatric hospital exactly, you need to go to the GP or out of hours doctor, tell them what is wrong and if they think you need further assessment or treatment they will contact the crisis/home treatment team. They will then assess whether or not you are a danger to yourself or others and ifyou need to go into hospital. It is only if they think you do that they can admit you, where on admittance you will probably see a psychiatrist also.
Appart from home treatment or a crisis team a psychiatrist can admit you to hospital, unless you already have an assigned psychiatrist and are under there care it is likely the only way to see one before admittance is through A&E.
So technically you cannot admit yourself alone, only certain professionals can.
You don’t need parental consent to recieve treatment at 16, unless your deemed an immature 16 year old or something like that. However it is likely your parents will be told if you were being admitted.
If after assessment your not admitted you will likely be offered outpatient treatment through seeing someone at your local mental health department or else they would come out to your house to see you.

just get these therapies in your life what is paramount is to choose your healing route—— carefully with good information– be really aware that the druggs/meds treatment for this can/will be damaging to your mind and body .
Evaluate all of this info well –it will save —years of suffering = if you apply it ..
All treatment recommended by the doctors should be tested and approved and quite rightly so.

Drug companies Fund most testing and will only and I mean only look at treatments, which show the promise of good deal of a profit, –they will actively dismiss any therapy which does not have profit potential— thus your doctor will only recommend therapies that have been tested with profit potential in them.
Despite The fact that some of these other therapies mentioned below do have overwhelming benefits some, which have saved needless amputations, needless pain and trauma, and much loss of life.
