As a minor, yes it is possible. The basic idea is that if you’re a possible threat of harm to yourself or to another person, you can be hospitalized. But if your parents work with a psychiatrist who thinks you need hospitalization, then that criteria doesn’t have to be fully met.

It’s not as bad as people seem to think. They have activities throughout the day and you meet with a Social Worker, sometimes with your parents. You see the psychiatrist most days and you are usually given meds, I think more than should be. Sometimes the stay is only a few days. Sometimes it can be for weeks. It depends on how serious your situation is deemed to be.
