Kawasaki Klr 650….Psychiatric Hospital Lost Cemetery

This area was a state psychiatric hospital that was closed and is now developed with very expensive homes. When the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania wanted to close this hospital I went to a town meeting, an audience member ask the state official a question stating something along the lines of “You people [Commonwealth of Pennsylvania] want to close this hospital so you can sell it to build expensive homes on it. The state official a “Secretary White” denied that was the intention. Today at one end of the property we have Nevillewood that appears to have some of the most expensive homes in Pittsburgh.
I always wondered how they handled the massive amount of people buried on that property. It appears they showed it the proper respect to some degree.
UPDATE
I found a web site with some information about this cemetery

I remember when I went to CV and we would go on nature hikes through the woods behind the primary school. There was a part of a building still left standing and I still remember it to this day because it was solitary and creepy. Now I can’t find any photos or information about Woodville.

There are houses built up there where the hospital stood now and the part that this video was taken looks like some trees were cut down around it but no houses were built exactly on this location. I wondered what they were doing with the graves. I used to walk up there with my friends as a kid in the ’80s. The Woodville and (Nevillewood) properties were a great place for wildlife. Sadly someone greedy had to turn the properties into realestate for people and kicked the deer out.

Thanks for posting. I remember voluntering up there when it was still open, and i went to c.v. Then again exploring the abondoned buldings after it closed. very creepy up there, but i enjoyed searching thru the old buildings. I always thought the bell tower bldg. was neat.
