This was a get together of friends who were called in, last minute, with little rehearsal time. A little rough in spots, but we had a “blast” and the Veterans, who were in the hospital lobby that day, all had smiles on their faces as they listened to us sing….

A performance at Englewood Hospital’s version of Dancing With the Stars – DANCING WITH THE DOCS. I dance the Samba with Elena Korzhov (Fred Astaire Dance Studios of Englewood, NJ) to “Y Deja” by Cuban artist Carlos Yabar. This number put me to the top to win.

The other physicians, hospital staff, and myself (all non-professional dancers) spent five weeks preparing for this one night with only 10 lessons to showcase our efforts. Simlar to DWTS, we performed with a professional, who were instructors of Fred Astaire Dance Studios of Englewood and Westwood, NJ. Enjoy!

The roots of this hospital lies in 1909.
The location (somewere else) was just opened and was ment for psychiatric care for jewish people.

1943 all patients and staff where deported to camps.
Nobody returned.

1960 This hospital was openend.
The jewish people who servived the second world war, could get here psychiatric help.

April 2008 they moved to an other location.
And this building with sad history is waiting to get demolished….

A decorated WWII veteran, Claude Gasio recounts his memories of the longest naval engagement in U.S. History – The Battle Of Leyte Gulf. He tells the story of the greatly outnumbered and outgunned naval task force that prevailed against all odds to defend their position and fulfill their part to ensure victory in the South Pacific in World War II. Claude Gasio retired in Fresno, California where he is now active in providing for the needs of our U.S. Veterans in the Fresno Veterans’ Hospital. Gasio is a decorated member of the Military Order of The Purple Heart and has taken on the task of soliciting and assembling gift packages of essentials and “care packages” throughout the year for many of the ‘forgotten’ veterans who live at the Veterans Hospital. This psychiatric hospital closed it doors in 1986.
Local people doesnt want to remember the cruelty that happened inside.

The sickest people were treatened like animals.
All sorts of drugs were tested on them, even Lsd and elecktroshock therapy.
If you got there, there was almost no chance to see the light of day ever agian.Some say it is haunted….

in that area there were some active buildings.
At all doors of the buildings, there were broomsticks turned upside down,
Probably to keep the bad/negative energy or stuff outside.

It gave us a creepy feeling….
