This is the staff elevator at Carilion’s Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke VA. I know I said community, but it is the memorial hospital, anyway still a cool elevator! It is still relay controlled and has the classic Otis feel. The buttons were replaced (by Schindler) in the late 90s according to an employee in the hospital.
This is elevator #1 at Bedford memorial Hospital. it is a traction and runs very well.
These are the staff elevators that serve floors 1-9
even though it says #1 it is elevator bank #4 at the hospital and the only one with a phone. #3 is staff only so i did not ride. I rode elevator 1 and 2. the videos will be up shortly. number 2 is a real treat
What a weird layout!! floors A-F are traction and E-H are a hydraulic!
These elevators were westy selectomatic. as you can tell by the panel but dover or thyssencrap got their hands on them.
This is the main elevator in the hospital. This hospital is no longer really a hospital. there is an urgent care center on the 1st floor and most of the upper floors are being converted into dorm rooms. Roanoke Memorial has pretty much replaced this obsolete hospital. VERY ANNOYING dover buzz! here is a pic of the building and you can see the elevator shaft of the front http://flickr.com/photos/dieselducy/3254511752
This is one of the elevators at the parking deck at Carilion’s Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke VA. It goes down slower than it ascends..
