Do You have to be a US Citizen to work for veterans hospital?

Someone told me in order to work for the va hospital, u have to be a us citizen. is this true? i am a resident of united states for about seven years.ive had a desire to work for the va since i trained their as a phlebotomist and i really enjoyed the atmosphere there.does anyone know if this a a fact.

  5. By now you realize that you can be foreign national and join the US army, so why not work for the Veterans Hospital. Your citizenship has no bearing – as long as you are in this country legally, you can work anywhere that your training and talents allow. Go ahead and apply, and Good Luck!

  6. No you do not have to be a U.S. Citizen, every time I go to the VA, I see and talk to many people from other countries that are not U.S. Citizens working for the VA. Even some doctors that have just come to this country. Communicating with them is an issue, they do not understand our culture here in America. They find out later from experience.
